FOR SINGLE MOTHERS IN ISRAEL, PASSOVER SPELLS CRISIS
There are hundreds and thousands of Israeli families living below the poverty line, but single parent families are stuck in persistent poorness. Unfortunately they receive the least of charity dollars, especially when the mother is at the head of the family as is the case with 90% of single parent homes in Israel. What will be with them this Passover 2020?
Solo moms in Israel work very hard all year round yet barely manage to put bread on the table. For them Passover expenses spells crisis. Prices go up and buying We cannot sit by idly and allow Jewish families to go hungry and feel ashamed because they can’t afford holiday food and clothing while we ourselves celebrate with abundance and festivity.
Imahot B’yisroel wants to make sure that every single mother family in Israel celebrates the holidays with joy and dignity. We need your help to distribute dignified prepaid shopping cards for buying food and clothing on a family-size basis.
Last year, with your help, we distributed over $15,000 worth of prepaid shopping cards enabling tens of needy single mothers in Israel, hundreds of children, many elderly single women and other desperately poor families buy food for the holiday. This year we’re raising funds to help many more with dignified cards to buy food and clothing for Passover.
